SYNOPSIS

DESCRIPTION

getpfx2as fetches and coalesces IPv4 prefix to AS mappings from CAIDA. A coalesced file has all redundancy eliminated by combining prefixes which may be combined into a wider prefix and eliminating specific prefixes which are covered by a wider prefix. We only combine prefixes which map to the same AS, and we only eliminate specific prefixes if they're covered by a wider prefix with the same AS. For those looking for a minimal prefix to AS mapping for IPv4 addresses, a coalesced file is sufficient. Typical reduction (in terms of entries in the file) is around 65%.

The following command line options are available:

-a

Fetch and coalesce all files listed in the pfx2as-creation.log at CAIDA.

-f filename

Fetch file(s) that have filename in their name.

-b

Create a binary file in addition to the coalesced text file. This file may be used by mcflowd(1) to create AS traffic data.

-l

List the available files (those included in the pfx2as-creation.log at CAIDA).

If no arguments are given, getpfx2as will fetch and coalesce the latest IPv4 prefix to AS file from CAIDA.
